So after 6 weeks touring the country I am happy to say that I've found myself awake and alive and back home in Jacksonville, IL.  In some ways it seems like only a couple days ago I took off for the first shows of this run, but it simultaneously feels like I've missed an entire season here in town.  I don't know when it first started to happen, but I would swear to you that Spring is nearly non-existent anymore, or at least it appears like it to me.  In any case, it's wonderful to be home, if even only for a short while.

This was the longest tour I've ever embarked on and I'm terribly happy to say it was a wonderful and rewarding trip.  Cheers to Rosi Golan and her accompanist Jake Phillips for brilliantly opening the shows for so many nights.  And to all of you who supported me on this run please know how much I sincerely appreciate it.  As many of you heard me say at the shows, I see my primary purpose and goal to make music that can hopefully offer some small measure of help and comfort to those that need a bit of that, because that's always been the primary thing music has done for me.  And for that reason, I believe that anyone who offers any sort of support for this project is working alongside me towards the gradual accomplishment of that goal.  Said rather more simply, thank you for what you do.  With all honesty, I cannot do this without you.  And I can't wait to visit back to the many places we were able to get to.  I hope to see you again soon.

In the meantime I have a few days home to work on some new writing and get a load of laundry in before embarking for Europe.  This is also my first ever group of shows in the UK and I'm getting to visit a few of the beautiful cities I saw at the end of last year over in Europe.  Very much looking forward to seeing you over there in just a matter of days.  I'll be sure to post an update and some pictures from that trip.

Finally, on one of my last trips through New York City I was very fortunate to get to play a few sessions at the Downtown Studios in front of a small audience, which were recorded.  This live EP will be released as an iTunes exclusive on June 16th (see the cover art and track listing below).  I don't think it's a secret how personally close I am to these songs and I always like people having the opportunity to hear them in the raw form that they first existed in once they were written.  And that's basically what this collection is.  I certainly hope it's something you'll enjoy.  

Thanks again for the gracious support and for listening, and I look forward to seeing you out somewhere on the road soon.  And to the many of you that caught me during and after the shows with difficult stories to share, please know I'm sincerely honored by that, you're in my thoughts, and there is always hope no matter what the circumstances.
