“Amsterdam” is about fighting the natural process by which our minds relegate often experienced pieces of information (a loved one, a beautiful city, a breathtaking vista) to the subconscious level and promising to always keep the person we care about the most in the foreground of our perception. “Amsterdam” is the first song I am releasing off of my upcoming record produced by my longtime friend and collaborator @marshallaltman , who made The Sparrow and the Crow with me over 15 years ago and helped turn that album into one of my favorite things I’ve ever made. The first part of The Sparrow and the Crow 15th Anniversary Tour was incredibly special, and I couldn’t be more excited to head over to Europe next week to play these shows for you starting in Amsterdam on May 1st! Meeting so many of you on the North American leg of this tour was an amazing reminder for me personally how powerful music can be as an agent of healing. Watching and listening to you all sing along with me during the shows and wait afterwards to speak with me means more than I can explain. This community is about feeling things deeply and healing and I remain so grateful to be a part of it.

End of US/CAN Sparrow 15th Anniversary tour post! Made it home just in time to see the eclipse with the family. Honestly I just wanted to say the biggest THANK YOU to everyone who came out to the shows and made this SO incredibly special. So many memories I’ll carry with me forever. I can only do this because of all of you 😊 🙏. MASSIVE thank you to @baerdmusic for his brilliant performances and wonderful work. “The Sparrow and the Crow” and the “Derivatives” albums have always remained extremely special projects for me, not just artistically, but also for the ways so many people have told me how they mark a meaningful time in their lives and helped them get through difficult seasons. Being able to have them painstakingly remastered and heard in the best possible way was a very important way to mark the 15th anniversary of their releases. As an added joy, I was able to revisit several songs from those records and record brand new re-imagined versions of them. My hope is that people who have loved these records or are discovering them for the first time will be able to enjoy them in a whole new way.
