It’s a common practice that in the process of writing a record you end up with a few more songs than can reasonably fit in the final collection. Often the choice of which ones to leave off are easy, and the best and most communicative songs reveal themselves quickly. But on occasion you are forced to leave behind a cherished one. “Distant Shore” was one of the earlier songs written for the Incidental Contact album and has always felt very special to me. It’s simply about the hope of being reunited with a loved one following death. I hope it is able to find its way to those who would greatly benefit from hearing it.
