6/30 – “Streets Of Philadelphia” Out Now!

It’s nearly impossible not to be moved by the gravitas Springsteen imparts in his ode to a dying man who must face the prospect of eternity alone. The pushed feel of Max’s drum beat, the haunting background vocals singing a happy utterance, but with a somber tone, and the universality of impending morality coalescing in a masterpiece song. I’ve loved this song since the first time I heard it in the film Philadelphia and always wanted to attempt to impart my own style of melancholy with the hopes of making something both familiar but also unique. Covering Springsteen is a terribly tall task, but I wanted to honor the art and also enter into the feelings he so beautifully created.
